Our first project for OneSteel was the development and articulation of a new brand for a range of steel mesh designed to revolutionise strata control within coal mining operations. Our brief was to create a brand name and design that reflected the unique attributes of the products and served to elevate it beyond the commoditised market in which it traditionally competed.
If we said to you “these people are experts in the design and custodianship of mobile machines for the continuous handling of bulk materials”, chances are you would not have the foggiest idea what we were on about. If we said, “think of those massive conveyor belt type machines that move millions of tons of raw materials such as iron ore, from a stockpile into the hold of a ship”, we expect you may have a better idea what we were on about.
Much of last year was consumed with us creating “Tested On The World’s Toughest Track”, a global awareness campaign we developed for Castrol VECTON Long Drain. The centrepiece is an AV, filmed in the Australian Outback and designed to convey the hellish conditions of operating high value, long haul trucks pulling huge loads in some of the world’s most challenging environments – with Castrol VECTON Long Drain as the engine oil.
We’ve created the website for the Smith’s Spin to Win competition, complete with a custom spinning wheel that allows entrants to spin and instantly receive notification of their prize. Winning entrants receive an automatically sent email with follow up instructions to validate their prize and submit further details for payment of the cash prizes.

Castrol’s legendary lubrication pioneering was again on display recently when we launched Castrol Magnatec Bio-Synthetic nationally. Utilising revolutionary Eco-Engineering technology, Castrol has combined Magnatec’s clinging molecules with 25% renewable plant-based oil without any protection or performance compromise, while providing a more sustainable alternative to traditional engine oils.
Energy retailer Pooled Energy has a complex, but very unique product solution to an everyday requirement – the cost efficient and timely application of electricity to the biggest users of household power – in this case swimming pools. Our lead generation marketing solution firstly tackled the rational consumer engagement route which started strongly, but predictably had a limited lifespan. We followed this up with a targeted Facebook campaign that played to the emotional highs and lows of being a swimming pool owner. The results were outstanding, so good in fact that at the time of posting this, the campaign had been pulled to give a our client time to catch up – and hire more people.
Our creative solution – the “2.5 million km engine protection proof” idea – was applied across multiple B2B and end user touch points, resulting in a multifaceted integrated campaign that has has once again served to reinforce this iconic Castrol brand’s position in the robust Australian diesel engine oil category.
